What about out in Brazil, TN? With my address I looked up it says it's not going to be available but I have heard different. I have WK&T and it sucks. Will y'all be able to get Gibson Connect out here on Gibson Wells Brazil Rd?

Hi, Crissy. By law, we are able to service Gibson EMC members except those within the West Kentucky and Tennessee Telecommunications Cooperative area (in Tennessee). Tennessee law restricts our ability to serve these members. If your address falls within the WK&T service area, unfortunately we will not be able to provide Gibson Connect services at that location. If you would like, you can sign-up to be notified if there are any changes that take place to this law; to do this, simply search for your address again, and then submit the requested information that comes up when it states your address is not within the Gibson Connect service area. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at 731.562.6000. We appreciate your interest!

What's the status for tiptonville?

Hi, Justin. We completed installations for members who had initially signed up for service in Tiptonville, and we’re now running service drops and doing installations for those who have signed up more recently. In fact, we’re getting new sign-ups daily and we’re working hard to connect these members quickly. At this time, it’s taking a little longer than we’d like, but our contractors are adding personnel to minimize our members’ wait time.

What's the status of Troy? I can't find the link I shared a month ago that said 118 more needed.

Hi, Aaron. The Troy zone is currently at 79% of its goal, with 110 more signatures needed. You can check your zone's status at any time by visiting this site and selecting the "Zones" tab at the top. This will allow you to see all of the zones in our service area, and where they are in the process. Please continue to encourage your friends and family members to register if they have not already. We appreciate your support of Gibson Connect and look forward to serving you!

Hello, I have a concern. When I registered for this service online it placed me in the Alamo zone. I received a letter in the mail saying we are in the Gadsden zone. Is there anyway for us to get a solid answer on this? Thanks!

Hi, Alan. We will be glad to verify that information for you. Please give us a call at 731.562.6000 and one of our Gibson Connect team members will be able to obtain your contact information and pull your registration up to see what zone your residence is located in. If you have any additional questions we will be happy to answer those, as well. Thank you for your support of Gibson Connect!

Hi, Ken. We can use the ReConnect funds to build broadband infrastructure in areas that meet specific requirements including very limited internet access. For this reason, the ReConnect loan cannot be used to construct fiber to entire zones. However, as we build the areas that qualify for ReConnect, we will use other funding methods to build the remainder of the zone. The zones that will be involved are the South Fulton, Troy, Obion, Hornbeak and Woodland Mills zones in Tennessee and the Fulton, Hickman and Clinton zones in Kentucky. Our broadband project is in its second year of a 3,100-mile construction project covering parts of four Kentucky counties and eight Tennessee counties. The project is being done in phases and is expected to take another three to four years to complete. Our members are driving the order of construction. Members can show support of this project and speed construction in their area by registering for the service at join.gibsonconnect.com. Zones that have reached their participation goals and zones funded by grants the cooperative has applied for and received are being built first. Ultimately we plan to provide high-speed, fiber-based internet service access to all of our members.

Ken, the eligibility of areas in which we can utilize ReConnect loan funds comes from information that was provided from FCC map data. As the rules for the program were written, very limited access means areas that have connection speeds that are less than 10Mbps down and 1Mbps up. The areas are grouped according to US Census Blocks, which differ in both size and location. Gibson will use ReConnect loan funds to build the fiber network in eligible parts of the Troy zone, and we will build the other areas of the zone at the same time using other funding. In short, the Troy Zone will be constructed as one large project using multiple funding sources.

Thank you for the information Rita. I am in the Troy zone and I am not sure what "very limited access" requirements consist of, but in my area there is NO wired or cable internet access available. We do not even have access to DSL. I was curious if there is any indication of what areas of the Troy Zone would be included in the target area of this program.

I just read a news article that Gibson Connect has received a $32 million program from the United States Department of Agriculture to aid in bringing broadband internet to counties in west Kentucky and Lake, Obion, Dyer and Weakly counties in Tennessee. Can you please advise which zones this will involve and how this might change time-tables and goals requirements?

Hi, Chris. We have begun construction of the main fiber lines and running service drops in the Trenton North zone. Absent unexpected delays, we plan to begin connecting members in April. There is no specific timeline to the connections of certain areas at this time, but we will continue to keep members updated and informed under the "Updates" tab here on the site, and also via the email provided at registration. We appreciate your support and look forward to serving you!

Hi, Michael. Yes, as of now we are estimating to begin connecting members in the Trenton South zone by March. There is a chance that it could be a little sooner, but based on our estimates right now it will be around March. We are currently splicing and finishing up service drops in the area and will begin connecting members as soon as possible following that. We appreciate your support of Gibson Connect and look forward to serving you!

Hi, we are in the Trenton South zone. Just received an email that looks like it will be March before we might start getting hooked up? Does that sound about right? I know the wires have been hanging on the pole across the street for a couple months now. My friend in Humboldt/Gibson area is getting hooked up on Friday. Just thought we met our goals prior to that area and thought we'd be hooked up sooner. thanks

Hello, Tim. Currently, the Gadsden zone is in the engineering phase of the buildout process. Assuming the weather is good and we do not have any unexpected delays we plant to start building the main line fiber and running service drops in the next few months, and begin connecting members this summer. We appreciate your continued support of Gibson Connect!

Hi, Martin. We have crews working diligently in the Humboldt/Gibson zone on several different steps of the buildout process. We have begun connecting members in the area, and are continuing to work on placing service drops and splicing as well. Unfortunately, we cannot provide you with a specific timeframe for your address, but we are working as quickly as we can to connect homes in this zone. We appreciate your support of Gibson Connect and look forward to serving you, soon!
