Hello, Guy. Our contractors will begin mobilizing next week. At this time we are unable to give a specific date that they will be in the Dyer area, but you can expect construction in Dyer to begin this summer. We'll keep you updated throughout the process. Thank you for your interest. We are looking forward to serving you!

Hi, Jeff. We’re getting really close, but it looks like it will be the last week of June before contractors begin construction. We’ve made a lot of progress completing preliminary work, engineering, ordering of materials and meeting with our contractors. We’re almost there and will keep you informed as we make progress.

Hi, Mary. I've updated your order to 1 Gig. After a service drop has been built to your home, a Gibson Connect representative will call to verify the products you have ordered and to schedule an in-home installation. We are looking forward to providing these services, and we certainly appreciate your support.
Mary Shull
I see that I am signed up for 100 mbps. How to I change it to 1000? I am very interested in TV as well. You have no idea how disappointed I am in Click1.net. I do hope that your internet WILL INDEED work downstairs as well as upstairs. I even have extenders and it still is very sketchy. I hate it! My desktop is upstairs. But everything else gets used downstairs via WiFi of course.
Jenni RachelsCampaign Owner
Jeff, we are currently in contract negotiations with a vendor and will let you know as soon as we settle on a product and pricing. Thank you for your interest!
Ken Morris
I am very jealous of the zones that have met the goal but also very happy for those of you in the zones about to be served. Being in the Troy zone which is now at 54 percent, I realize it will be a while before Gibson Connect makes it to my front door. Hopefully as word spreads the needed numbers to reach 100 percent will begin to increase.
Jeff Walters
I’m curious on TV service as well. We’ve had DirecTV for years but seems like it gets higher each year. Would definitely like to have more options that them or DishNetwork.

Hi, John. Great questions! We will coordinate the location of the ONT with the customer; however, we will provide counsel on the location to try to maximize the signal throughout the home. You are correct, the ONT does have a built in router, and we will provide Wi-Fi at no additional cost. You will have access to change the settings. The device we will use is in the Calix GigaCenter family of products, and the cost is already included in the base charge. We are using GPON, and we will serve all members within an active zone regardless of the mileage. Thank you for your interest in and support of Gibson Connect.
John Moore
One more question, I believe that I read before that you are planning on running a GPON. I thought that a PON can only run up to around 12 miles. Do I have a misunderstanding?
John Moore
Just needed a little clarification. You are installing the ONT inside the house, is there a set place or is it where we choose? The ONT that you are installing will provide us with WiFi at no additional cost, meaning that the ONT has a built in router? Will we have access to change those settings? Could you provide us with specifications of the device? Also, are there going to be monthly "rent" charges for the ONT? Sorry for asking so many questions. Thank you for your time, and for running this great program!
Rita AlexanderCampaign Owner
Hi, Craig. First we will run the fiber service drop to the home. Second, we will run our fiber from outside the home to an ONT located inside the house which can be placed near a computer. That box will provide WiFi for the home at no additional cost and has Ethernet ports if you want to connect directly to your computer. For rental properties we will need to get permission from the property owner before we can run the fiber wire inside the home. Thank you for your support!
Craig D
What will this service involve from the road to into the house and ending at the computer or whatever? And will there be any difference for rental properties?
Rita AlexanderCampaign Owner
Good morning, Jeff! I'm happy to say that we're getting very close. We've been performing work at our substation in Medina and contractors are set to begin construction in your area on June 18. Work on the main fiber network will commence shortly thereafter. As the fiber is constructed and passes members' homes and businesses, we can install and provide high-speed, fiber-based service. By late June or early July we expect to connect our first Gibson Connect customers! Thank you so much for supporting us!
Jeff Walters
Just wondering if we could get an update on the construction process in the Medina zone? Do you guys know a timeline on when we could start seeing service installation? So ready to say goodbye to WISPER internet.

Leslie, we understand that there is a desperate need for high-speed, fiber-based internet in our rural service areas. Because of this need, we are actively applying for grants throughout our service area as they become available. There may be times during the application process in which our members are able to advocate on our behalf by writing a letter in support of the submitted grant. During those times, we will ask for your help in an effort to increase our chance of being awarded an additional grant. We thank you for your continued support and look forward to providing this service to you and all of our members.
Leslie Moore
Is there anyway any other district can get the grant that Lake and Obion County received so that we can have broadband service too? We can't get cable or DSL and satellite is too unreliable and slow. I run a business from my home and this slow internet is killing me. Are there grants still available for this? I would be glad to work on getting one if possible.
Rita AlexanderCampaign Owner
Howard, first, thank you for registering for Gibson Connect! We hope to ultimately provide high-speed, fiber-based internet service to all of our members, but whether or not this is possible will depend upon the success of the program. We believe that enabling our members to guide our construction process is most fair and building first to the areas that demonstrate through their registrations that they plan to purchase the service will help ensure Gibson Connect’s success. Building fiber to the home is a huge undertaking and expenditure. We must do the buildout in a way that is financially prudent and physically manageable. We will have to do the buildout in phases and we hope to have the construction for Phase I completed and the engineering started for Phase II by the end of 2018. At best, this will be a multi-year project, but we will keep you informed all along the way. Please continue to encourage others to sign up so that your zone will be in line for a buildout sooner. We are working on scheduling an event in your area to encourage registrations. We also will continue to apply for grants in Kentucky and in Tennessee to help with the buildout. Again, we appreciate your support.
Howard Green
I was fairly optimistic when this started but Hickman has been stuck around 40% for a month . I've talked to several others who feel the same way . We would like some encouragement from Gibson Connect that everyone will get high speed eventually whether the quota is met or not . If so what kind of time frame are we talking about ? Two years or five years ? Any new information would be greatly appreciated !
Jenni RachelsCampaign Owner
Kellie, there will not be a charge per foot. However, I would encourage you to go ahead and register with the $20 registration fee so you can avoid paying a $200 installation fee later.
