Just as everyone else, been waiting for you guys! I literally haven’t had any internet since you guys said it would by up soon (that was back in september). Just trying to figure out when you guys will be around our house so I can have an idea. Tired of not having any internet and I really don’t want to buy a year contract with some internet contractors...
James Neal
For the TV service, what platform will GEC be using for content, i.e., a box? a smart TV/wi-fi enabled app? coaxial alone? Also, the drop to the house exterior will be fiber....from that point what will be used from there to the router/modem location inside the house? (I assume fiber)?? Looking to upgrade some TV's and whether should get "smart TV's" or not? Thank you.

Matthew, we do plan to offer a TV package and it can be bundled into one bill (with Internet and telephone). We will be doing some trials (a beta) in January and hope to be offering packages to you and our other members as early as February.
Matthew Williams
What is the latest on the TV package? Are there still plans to provide a TV package?
Would the TV/Internet be bundled together into 1 bill each month? Thanks

Hi, Fancher. As you may know, we unfortunately had some problems with our former engineering consulting firm. These problems led to delays with our contractors (construction, service drop and installation) and pushed us into a rainy fall. Ultimately, we had to change our engineering consultant. The good news is that we have now begun to move faster. We’re taking each feeder/circuit and starting at the substation, we are working our way through the engineering, construction, service drops and installations. In the Medina zone we are working from the Mt. Zion substation and we have 5 feeders/circuits (314, 324, 334, 344, and 354). We currently have most of the overhead completed and underground is under construction on feeder 314. We also have most of the overhead completed on feeders 324 and 334. Overhead work on feeder 344 in Medina has been completed, and installations are currently underway on feeder 354. While we are trying to complete each phase of the build in each circuit, weather is also a factor. For example, if a member’s service drop (from street/road to home/business) is underground, we are only able to proceed when the weather and ground conditions allow. We will call you to schedule an in-home evaluation when your home is ready to be connected. Please know that we’re working to get you connected as quickly as possible. We appreciate your patience and look forward to serving you!

Hello, John. I can hardly wait to be connected too. We appreciate your willingness to help, but we will have to hook you up. You’re on feeder/circuit 344. At this point, we’ve done engineering and main line construction on your circuit.
With network experience, I’m sure you understand that weather is also a factor. This has slowed down our ability to do service drops for members who have underground electric service. We certainly want to be sure we take care of your and our other members’ property.
Also, our contractors have hired subcontracting work to help us make progress as quickly as possible.
You’re correct that we did purchase a division of Jones Telecommunications (LitePipe) and Tony Jones, former owner is now working for Gibson Connect serving business members.
If you’d like to speak with someone, please just call 855-4660 and ask for Jenni Lynn. I’ll take down your contact information and ask someone in the Gibson Connect operations group to give you a call.

Hi, Terry. I wish I could be more specific, but the answer is maybe. We have connected and continue to connect members in the Medina zone. Your feeder/circuit number is 314. At this point, we’ve done engineering and main line construction on your circuit. Weather permitting, we should begin service drops within two weeks.

Hello, Guy. We have already done some work in the Dyer zone. Our process works like this: First, our engineering consultant creates prints following a main feeder from our substation to your home or business. Next, our construction contractor takes the prints and builds out the fiber system along the main feeder. Then, our service drop contractor puts in the service drop from the road/street to the exterior of your home/business. Generally, if electric is overhead, the fiber is overhead; if electric is underground, the fiber is underground. Finally, we contact you to schedule your home’s or business’s installation and our installation technicians (some Gibson Connect employees and some contractor employees) perform the installation.
Unfortunately, I cannot provide specifics about when we’ll be able to get service to you. As you’re probably aware, we’ve had some delays due to problems with a former engineering consultant and we don’t want to over-promise and under-deliver. We are doing aerial construction, but it will be a while before we begin installations in the Dyer zone. We will contact you as soon as your home is ready for installation. We also will share more detailed information as we get it. We appreciate your help in spreading the word. Please know that we are working diligently to you service as quickly as possible. It will be well worth the wait!

I would like to thank Gibson Connect and all the Contractors working hard to provide us with high speed fiber based internet. Our home installation was done Monday and so far everything has worked great....Thank you!!!!!!!

I am wondering the same thing.... I have at least some networking experience. I've never worked on main lines like these, but I have worked in businesses with Fiber and Ethernet. If y'all can't connect to my house by the end of the year, could I try to do it myself? Also, who is the new contract workers that y'all have hired. I believe before that it was Jones Telecommunications was it not? Is there anyway that I could speak with the new workers?
Terry Tucker
I am wondering if getting connected in 2018 will happen? We have had our service loop hanging on the pole by the street for weeks. I see where some in Medina already have service.
Estimated timeframe for connections or trenching?
Guy Maxwell
Any update on Dyer construction would be appreciated. I know there has been a good bit of cable hanging going on. I have a coil of wire/cable hanging on a pole in front of my house. What does that mean as far as how close we are getting? In fact, lots of coils on lots of poles in front of houses. Still trying to get others to sign up (mainly in other areas now as most folks I know around here are in), but getting lots of wanting to wait till "they get someone actually on it" responses. Just thought of something...this could be a tremendous Christmas present from you guys if it works out. LOL!

Hi, Phillip. There will be no extra charge for the cable run to your house. Trenton North only needs 16 registrations to meet its goal! Please encourage your friends and neighbors to register!

Hi, Timothy. We appreciate your enthusiasm, and we are ready to serve you, too! Gadsden has done very well, and as you mentioned, it needs less than fifty registrations to meet its goal. Please continue to encourage your friends and neighbors to register.

Hi, Julie. We are still working in your area, but I cannot provide an estimated installation date at this time. We do have the overhead cable hung, and we'll have a Gibson Connect representative call you once the service drop has been made. At that time, we'll schedule your in-home installation. Thank you for your support!
