I believe Kentucky has passed with emergency status for rural internet. When that will happen and how much less will the cost be from Gibson's original quote???? Because it was posted by Gibson Connect even though Fulton Zone reached its required "subscribers" they stopped work for Kentucky ZONES to have a lower cost!!!!!! Since according to Gibson Connect the Fulton zone should already have their internet SERVICE !!!!!!

Mack, while high-speed broadband is essential to our rural service area, applying for grants and trying to reduce costs to our members is also important to us. We have applied for grant funding whenever possible. Following the announcement of the broadband grants in Kentucky, we felt that it was in our members' best interest to apply for and try to attain grant dollars for the buildout in our Kentucky area. At this time, we are awaiting results from the state before we move forward. We appreciate your patience and support, and we look forward to serving you.

Any idea on when we will be connected? We have had two different crews out one hooking the box up at our house and another with the line.

MaryBeth, there are several steps that will have to be completed before your home is ready for internet. This includes constructing the main line fiber which is happening at this time in your area, putting a service drop to your home, placing a NID (small gray box) to make a connection, splicing the fiber at your home, and then testing the light. Once we have received word that the home is ready to be connected, our team will reach out to you and schedule it at your convenience. Thank you for your support of Gibson Connect!

Hey, Larry. There was a bit of a set-back with your address, but I have spoken with our team and we should have your address ready to connect in the next 7-10 days. There are a couple of homes on Lower Jackson Road that we are working to finish; barring any unforeseen circumstances in the next few days, we expect to have you up and going in the next couple of weeks. Thank you for your patience and continued support of Gibson Connect!

Wondering when service will be connected at 9893 McConnell rd?

User Avatar

Hi, Richard. At this time, we are anticipating connections to begin in the South Fulton zone sometime in June, and the majority to be largely connected by late summer. Of course, there are factors that can impact this timeline such as weather, contractor staffing and materials availability. We appreciate your support of Gibson Connect and look forward to serving you!

Hi Jerry. We have crews working throughout the Bells zone both placing service drops and splicing fiber. I do see that your service drop has been placed, but the fiber still needs to be spliced. As soon as we receive a light reading, one of our team members will be giving you a call to schedule your in-home install. We are still anticipating this area to be largely completed by late spring. Thank you for your patience and continued support of Gibson Connect!

How soon for Friendship/Crockett Mills area?

User Avatar

8:48AM May 04, 2022

Hi, Keith. We have crews that have been finishing the placing of mainline fiber, as others continue to work on service drops. We have not yet started splicing in this area, as the weather has pushed our crews back by a few weeks. They are working to finish the splicing in the Bells zone, and then will begin work in the Friendship/Maury City zone. At this time, we expect the area to be largely completed by the end of August, so connections should begin within the next 4-6 weeks. Thank you for your continued support of Gibson Connect!

Well Hopefully they will stop cold turkey where ever they are working and start back in Kentucky just like they did when we met the quota . And stopped everything in the Clinton area. Because the bill has passed with emergency approval. Cause they stopped to " lower our cost". Can't wait to see how much we save.

Hi, Chuck. Unfortunately, we have not heard anything from the Commonwealth of Kentucky about our broadband grant application. We remain hopeful that we will receive word soon. We are ready and anxious to get started with the buildout and as soon as we receive any communication about it, we will inform our members. We appreciate your continued support of Gibson Connect!

Hi, Jimmy. No updates from our last communication with you a couple of weeks ago. Crews have completed placing the mainline fiber, but very little splicing has taken place yet. The weather, specifically storms and continual rain, have pushed us back a bit in the Troy zone, so we are working as quickly as we can to get that zone completed and then crews will be fully moving over to the South Fulton zone. We appreciate your patience and continued support as we work to get South Fulton built. Have a great week!

User Avatar

Hi, Terrance. The Troy zone is still under construction, as we work to get the remaining service drops completed, as well as splicing remaining fiber for connections. The WiFi Hotspot is unrelated to residential service, as that was funded and set up through a grant that we received, and they were set-up throughout our service area. The weather, both storms and continual rain, has pushed us back by a couple of weeks, but we are expecting to be largely finished with the zone in the next few weeks. We appreciate your support of Gibson Connect and look forward to serving you!

Hi, Candace. If your electric is serviced by Newbern Utilities, your address is not eligible for Gibson Connect services. Under state law, we are only able to provide service to the members that we provide electric service to, unless they are served with internet by another cooperative, such as WK&T. If you would like to call us at 731.562.6000, we will be happy to double check your address and let you know for sure if you are eligible for Gibson Connect services. Thank you for your interest!

FYI... you have a huge junction box just laying on the ground next to a pole at the Obion Park it has been laying there for over 2 weeks now... it has huge fiber optic cables coming from it just dangling in the wind and in a position to where anyone could damage it if they so desired. This is no way to treat a piece of the network. I hate to think someday I will lose all my services just because someone did not follow protocol and put this piece of equipment back on the pole where it belongs. Have a nice day.

Hi, Jimmy. There are not many changes or updates from our last communication. Crews are still continuing to work throughout the area placing mainline fiber and service drops, and that will be followed by splicing. Our splicers are working to complete the work to be done in the Hop-In/Rives and Troy zones, and then will be making their way to South Fulton. As of now, we are still operating under the same timeline for connections, which we anticipate will begin late May or June. Thank you for your continued support of Gibson Connect!

User Avatar

Hi, Terri. The Medina zone has already been completed, so there is not a goal for that zone any longer. We should be able to have you connected within 2-3 weeks from registration if there is not fiber run to the home; if there is fiber ready, we will just have to get it swapped into your name. If you would like to give us a call at 731.562.6000 to verify your location, we will be happy to check that for you!

User Avatar

Hi, Otis. No, there has not been a change since our last update. Our splicing crews have been concentrated on the Hop-In/Rives zone, as it was under construction prior to the Troy zone, so that has not allowed many splicers to be in the Troy area. The Hop-In/Rives zone is set to be largely completed as of this week, and the splicing crews will be moving into Troy to get it completed. We are anticipating that the remainder of the Troy zone will be finished by the end of April. We appreciate your continued patience throughout this process, and we look forward to providing you with service in the next few weeks!
