Hi, David. No, you are not notified prior to the any trenching work when the service drop is placed. If you have personal services such as a well, dog fence, etc., you will be responsible for marking them when you see other locates that have been completed. If you have other questions, please give us a call at 731.562.6000 as soon as possible so that we can try and understand what you are referencing. Thank you for your question and your support of Gibson Connect!

What type of fiber optic connection will we have at our home? Fiber to the Curb (FTTC) connection, Fiber to the Node FTTN connection, or a Fiber to the Home (FTTH) connection?
Sarah Williams
Brandon, you can purchase your own router, but we recommend that you use the one we provide. There is no additional charge for the router that is provided. The reason we encourage you to use a Gibson Connect device is so that if there are issues with your service, we can take a look at the device and see what is going on with it; if it is your own device, we will not be able to see as far into problems if it is not the network and the router itself has an issue. If you have questions about this, please let us know!

Thanks for responding Sarah. Can we purchase our own router or have to go with the one provided? Also, the one provided will it need to be rented or bought?

Hi, Brandon. The connection will be Fiber to the Home (FTTH) with GPON. If you have any other questions relating to the service, please let us know. We appreciate your support of Gibson Connect!

Austin Gullett
How reliable is the new fiber internet service? Will I reliably get 1000mbps up and down? I have had some issues with the current ISP in Three Way.
Sarah Williams
Hi, Austin. Gibson Connect service is very reliable because it is fiber based. The path to transport service has a high capacity to supply reliable levels of service to members’ homes. Members who choose to purchase our 1 GIG package will reliably see around 930 mbps up and down on Ethernet connected devices across our network. The service we provide is reliable only so far as our network; meaning, if a member is experiencing issues with speed on a streaming app or website, that does not mean it is because your service with Gibson Connect has an issue, but could be an issue with the other provider. What happens on the other end is beyond our control. Another example of issues with reliability could be the age and type of device(s) that are being used in the home, and how many are being utilized at the same time. If multiple devices are working simultaneously, that can slow down speeds slightly. We hope this answers the questions that you have, and if you are interested in signing up with us, we would encourage you to try Gibson Connect and see how you like it. There is no up-front cost and no contract, so if you were unhappy with the level of service and reliability you are not locked-in to a set term with us. We appreciate your support of Gibson Connect!

What does phase 111 mean and when will get my service, I live in the Woodlawn Mills zone? I seen them in front of my house Wednesday parked but then headed down the road.
Sarah Williams
Hey, Danny. I am afraid I do not know what phase 111 means. The Woodland Mills zone is currently under construction in Phase II as we received a grant to help fund the construction of this area, and other parts of Obion County. The zone was originally scheduled to be included in the Phase III buildout, but due to the grant funds received we were able to begin work sooner. At this time, we hope to have the majority of the Woodland Mills area connected by the end of the year; however, there are many variables that can impact the progress of our work such as weather and contractor staffing. We appreciate your support of Gibson Connect and look forward to serving you, soon!

My current internet service contract is ending, and Gibson connect is not yet available. I would like to have an estimate as to when it will be available, so I will know how long to be in a contract with my current supplier.
Sarah Williams
Hi, Pam. The Rutherford zone is the first zone that will be constructed as a part of the Phase III buildout. At this time, our best estimate for when we expect to begin connecting members in the Rutherford zone is late winter or early spring of 2021. Please understand, however, that that there are many variables that can impact the progress of our work and cause delays. Things such as weather, contractor staffing issues, and equipment delays can push that estimate back. We appreciate your support of Gibson Connect and look forward to serving you and the Rutherford community, soon!

My husband and I have been registered and our fiber wiring has been spliced to the house, we are in the Hornbeak zone area and are wondering what time frame we are looking at for service. Super excited to try something that may be worth the price. Thanks

Hi, Michelle. We are actively in the Hornbeak zone running service drops to homes, and crews have started the splicing of the main line fiber. It will be a couple of more weeks before we are ready to begin connections, but we are hopeful to have the majority of the zone connected by the end of this year. Thank you for your continued support!

I understand that construction has just begun in the Obion Zone, but is there a timeline for when we can expect to have access to this great service?
Excited and just looking for something a bit more clear so I can keep my mind from wondering.

Hello, Daniel. Yes, we have begun construction in the Obion zone. We still have a lot of work to do before we begin connections, and crews are working in a couple of other zones at the same time. We hope to have the majority of the Obion zone connected by the end of the year. We appreciate your support of Gibson Connect, and look forward to serving you!

I have a couple of questions. First, if I get the tv portion of the service along with the internet can I bundle it and have one bill? Also I was just curious the time frame we are looking at for Troy. They ran the wire in front of my house yesterday. Thank you for any help you can give me!
Sarah Williams
Hi, Adam. Yes, your Gibson Connect bill will be combined, so it will breakdown the price of your internet service and your television service, but all come on one monthly bill. As to the timeframe for service, the Troy zone is a part of our Phase III buildout that will begin in late 2020 or early 2021. At this time, the best estimate we have is that construction will begin in the summer of 2021. I do see a registration in the system that may be yours, but it does not appear to be in the Troy zone; it is in a neighboring one. If you would like to give me a call and verify your information over the phone, I will be glad to provide you with a better update if that is your address. Please us at 731.562.6000 and ask to speak with Sarah Williams. Thank you for supporting Gibson Connect!

Where are you with the buildout for the Hickman zone and when can I expect service on Walter Whipple Rd, Union City, TN?
Sarah Williams
Hi, Ricky. All of Walter Whipple road will be built as a part of the Woodland Mills zone. This is in part from the Tennessee Emergency Broadband Grant that Gibson EMC was awarded a few weeks ago. The Woodland Mills zone is currently under construction, and at this time we are hopeful that most of the members in this area will be connected by the end of the year. We appreciate your support of Gibson Connect and look forward to serving you, soon!

Jeremy Roney
Will the Troy zone been on the grant as well or just Woodland? We live on Beech Chapel road, Union City and are close to the Woodland zone but we are in the Troy zone.
Sarah Williams
Hi, Jeremy. The Troy zone is not a part of the grant area that was awarded from the state; that was for Woodland Mills and part of the Hornbeak zone. The Troy zone will be included as a part of our Phase III buildout which we anticipate will begin at the end of 2020 or beginning of 2021. At this time, we estimate that construction will begin in the Troy zone during the summer. Of course, there are several factors that could impact this timeframe, but as of now we are hopeful to begin work around that time. We appreciate your support of Gibson Connect and look forward to serving you!

I was wandering about a timeline for 448 W Hwy 21 troy since I'm on Hornbeak zone and have my fiber on the side of the house. We are planning a trip coming up in October. I don't want to miss you. I just read about the new Grant.
Sarah Williams
Hi, Darrell. We have just begun splicing of the network fiber this week, and the fiber will also have to be spliced at your home prior to the connection being ready. We are hopeful that connections in the Hornbeak zone will begin in early October, and as of now we anticipate the majority of the zone to be connected by the end of the year. The grant that was awarded will help speed up the buildout a little bit in this area. Once your home is ready to be connected, our team will give you a call at the number you provided during your registration; they will have a set date and time to come and perform your installation that works best for you and your family. If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to ask. We appreciate your support and look forward to serving you, soon!

Dianna Gammons
I'm Dianna Gammons and I'd like to know when will I be able to connect on Cloys Road, Union City, TN 38261? I'm in the Woodland Zone.
Sarah Williams
Hi, Dianna. The Woodland Mills zone is now under construction and members in this zone should be connected by the end of this year. Gibson EMC was recently awarded three grants through the Tennessee Emergency Broadband Fund, developed using a portion of resources allocated to Tennessee through the Coronavirus Relief fund. Two of the grants will provide 80 percent funding to Gibson EMC for the construction of a broadband infrastructure network in the Woodland Mills zone and parts of the Hornbeak zone. Due to stipulations of the grant, the members in this area will be connected quicker than anticipated. At this time, we do not have a specific timeline for individual addresses, but will be working and visible in the area. We will call to notify you when your address is readied for service. Thank you for your continued support of Gibson Connect!
Sarah Williams
Hi, Darrell. We do not yet have a timeline for individual installs in the Hornbeak area. Crews have just begun placing service drops in the zone within the last week, and the fiber still has to be spliced before connections will be begin. We still have a lot of work to do before we begin connections, and crews are working in a couple of other zones at the same time. If all goes well, we anticipate connections to begin within a couple of months. We appreciate your support of Gibson Connect and look forward to serving you, soon!

Can you tell me when we will get access? My address is 5215 Minnick Elbridge rd. We are at the corner of Minnick Elbridge and Call road. We show up on your zone map as part of the Obion zone and people all around us have had the lines run down their roads, and some over closer to Hornbeak even have their service connected but no line has been run down our road.
Thanks,
Michael Frye
Sarah Williams
Hi, Michael. Your address is part of the Obion zone that will be built using the grant award we received. We do not have a specific timeline for individual connections at this point, as we have not yet started construction in the area. Crews will begin work in the area within the next couple of months, and we will be connecting members as quickly as possible. Thank you for your support of Gibson Connect!

My neighbor said he saw a crew splicing our connections in. If this is in fact the case, how far behind are the home installation crews from the splicing crews? I would love to be scheduled for home installation before we starts harvest in a few weeks so we can be present for home installation.
Sarah Williams
Hi, Robert. Unfortunately, we do not have a specific timeframe for individual connections. We have several crews working throughout the Gadsden zone on different steps of the buildout. I do see that your service drop has been placed, but we have not been notified that the fiber is spliced. We understand this is a service that many of our members need, and we are working as quickly as we can to provide it. Please continue to be patient with us as we work throughout the area and connect members. Our team will be in touch with you once we have been notified that your home is ready for service. We appreciate your support of Gibson Connect and look forward to serving you, soon!

We have seen crews running fiber down our street. Is there someone that we need to contact to get us on the list to have our equipment installed in our house?
Sarah Williams
Hi, Kyle. I have found a registration for you in the system, so you do not need to do anything further. Crews have started placing the main line fiber throughout the Hornbeak zone, but there are still other steps that will have to take place before connections begin. If all goes well, we anticipate service drops to start in September or October, and connections will come later. We appreciate your support of Gibson Connect and look forward to serving you!

I'm Dianna Gammons and I'd like to know when will I be able to connect on Cloys Road, Union City, TN 38261? I'm in the Woodland Zone.

Thanks, Michael Frye

5:01PM August 05, 2020
Sarah Williams
Hi, Kyle. I have found a registration for you in the system, so you do not need to do anything further. Crews have started placing the main line fiber throughout the Hornbeak zone, but there are still other steps that will have to take place before connections begin. If all goes well, we anticipate service drops to start in September or October, and connections will come later. We appreciate your support of Gibson Connect and look forward to serving you!
